This black powder flask has a hunting dog head is high relief surrounded by foliage and some small dead game birds, (Riling # 949). It has a patent top with outside spring and no carry rings.The charger measures in drams. The flask was made by Dixon and Sons, Sheffield, England. They are listed in the local and London directories as powder flask manufacturers from 1829 to 1903. It measures 8″ by 3 1/4″ by 1 3/4″ and weighs 9.1 ozs.
