This is a Civil War era housewife or sewing kit soldiers and other men away from wives or mothers carried with them. It is leather on the outside and wool on the inside. One end holds the pin cushion on one side and the thimble on the other and rolls up to fit in a pocket or kit. It is 8.25″ by 2.75″ unrolled and is 1.5″ in diameter with rolled up. It weighs 0.5 oz.
